The new disc by Chilean rock group Los Bunkers, entitled “Música libre” (Free Music), will include versions of themes by Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez, the Mexican press published.

This, the sixth disc by Los Bunkers, recorded in the Mexican capital, will include versions of classics by Silvio Rodríguez, such as “El necio”, “Quién fuera”, “Sueño con serpientes” or “Santiago de Chile”.

The band from Concepción (central-southern Chile) assures they had the approval from the Cuban singer and guitarist for the adaptations.

“We sent him the work done, a pre-mix and he sent us a ‘really beautiful’ email, in which he said he had found the work really good”, revealed guitarist Mauricio Durán to Milenio daily.

The other guitarist, Francisco Durán, said they do not consider it a homage or a tribute to Silvio Rodríguez because these words “always appear to be something lost or that is dead and the sense of the disc makes the songs look more alive than ever”. The album is scheduled to go on sale in November.
