The Latin Beat Film Festival, the only one to present in Tokyo every year the most recent Latin American film productions, started its 7th edition.

Although the festival sessions in the Japanese capital ended last week, the event will continue for two other weeks in Kyoto and for four days, from October 8 to 11, in Yokohama.

There will be exhibited 17 Iberia American films with the presence of Emilio Aragon, director of Pajaros de Papel (Paper Birds), leading actress Carmen Machi and Germinio Pineda, Canana Film producer. It has been a good opportunity for the Japanese audiences to share with these filmmakers.

Cuba has been represented by 52 minutes documentaries, Manteca, mondongo y bacalao con pan (Fat, guts and code and bread) by Cuban filmmaker Pavel Giroud (image) and Decir con Feeling (To Say with Feeling) by Cuban producer Rebeca Chávez, both with excellent public reception.

Box office hits in the Festival are Tetro by American filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and filmed in Argentine and Flamenco, flamenco by Spanish director Carlos Saura.
