Tens of countries will meet at the 14th International Livestock Fair, Fiagrop 2010, to show from October 2-10 Cuba's successes in Rancho Boyeros, south Havana.

Adolfo Aroche, president of the organizing committee, said Cuba will share the venue with guests from Germany, Mexico, Colombia and Panama, as largest representations, and counterparts from Argentina, Costa Rica, Spain, Guatemala and Venezuela.

The opening ceremony will be followed by a tournament of equestrian events and rodeo, both showing Cuban livestock, among them, cattle, pigs, poultry, equines and goats, seeking to foment exchange among specialists and producers.

Fiagrop-2010 will be running from Oct. 6 a stock market involving four pabilions with the joint venture BrasCuba, Habanos SA, Internacional Cubana de Tabacos (ICT), Catec, Etecsa, Alfaval, Gelma and Laboratorios Farmacéuticos (Labiofam).

Among the foreign guests, Aroche mentioned Addcon, Bayer, Bela-Pharm, Dz-bank, Niedersachsen and Lubing among 13 German firms grouped in the 1st Pabilion, along companies from Argentina, Spain, Sweden, Panama and Venezuela.

Agriculture Vice Minister Joaquín Lezcano stressed on the importance of Fiagrop-2010 and its contribution to increase food production, replace imports and train young specialists in animal livelihood, while promoting raw material, technology, scientific breakthrough, animal medication and services.
