jueves, 30 de septiembre de 2010, 12:45Quito, Sep 30 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa is personally dealing with the strike and insubordination of nearly 1,000 police from different garrisons of the country, who are protesting a decision by Parliament to eliminate their privileges.

In an attempt at dialogue at the Quito Regiment, Correa explained the official policy of increase wages instead of trying to compensate miserable salaries with Christmas baskets and bonuses, to which the officers responded with threats and shouts of protest.

Police insubordination has been reported in other parts of the country, and the situation was being fueled by the takeover of garrisons and burning of tires.
