Cuba Announces Baseball Team for World Qualifier in Puerto Rico HAVANA, CUBA.-  Cuban baseball authorities announced on Sunday the 24-men team that will represent the island in the upcoming Pan American and World qualifier scheduled for Puerto Rico from October 1 to 12.

The squad, which includes two catchers, seven infielders, four outfielders and 11 pitchers, will travel to Puerto Rico on Tuesday.

The event will give seven tickets for the 2011 Pan American Games of Guadalajara in Mexico, and six for the World Championship also next year.

This is the Cuban team:

Catchers: Ariel Pestano and Yulexys La Rosa.

Infielders: Jose Dariel Abreu, Alexander Malleta, Hector Olivera, Yuliesky Gourriel, Yorbis Borroto, Michel Enriquez and Aledmis Diaz.

Outfielders: Yoennis Cespedes, Alfredo Despaigne, Frederich Cepeda and Alexei Bell.

Pitchers: Pedro Luis Lazo, Norge Luis Vera, Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, Jonder Martinez, Yadier Pedroso, Yuliesky Gonzalez, Freddy Asiel Alvarez, Vladimir Garcia, Norberto Gonzalez, Dailier Hinojosa and Ismel Jiménez.

The team will be headed by Eduardo Martin who will have Luis Jova and Omar Linares as batting coaches and Jose Elosegui and Javier Galvez as pitching coaches.
