As the title of his famous song Yo pisaré las calles nuevamente (I shall step over the streets again), the Cuban Pablo Milanes, returns to the USA next October to offer two concerts in California, as a preview of his tour all over the country scheduled for next year.

"I haven’t been to the USA in the last 10 years, last time I was there, was to offer some concerts in New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles", said Milanes to EFE from Cuba in a telephone conversation.

"After a decade I’m back to present my famous songs, which is popular among the people and a good part of my repertoire will include my latest musical work", added the singer, who was born in Bayamo, 67 years ago.

The recent record productions of the creator of Yolanda, Para vivir y El breve espacio en que no estás, among many others, are Como un campo de Maíz (2005) and Regalo (2007), in which his chant to love and political and social compromise are still valid.

Regalo is the name of the tour that will take him once again to US soil, specifically the 8 of October to the paramount Theatre in Oakland, California and the 10 of October at the Gibson Amphitheatre in the city of Los Angeles.

"it is a great satisfaction to visit this part of the USA, which I already know, where I know there is a considerable number of Latinos and US people, who know and follow my work since I made my first presentation in the seventies", indicated Milanes, who is recognised as one of the creators of the so called Cuban "Nueva Trova".

Being asked about the possibility that there might be some protest voices for his visit to the USA, as recently happened in several of the concerts of his countryman Silvio Rodriguez, Milanes preferred not to talk about it.

"My intention is that these two presentations are understood as a space to share our musical and artistic positions and place them to the consideration of the people in a context, the north American, for which I have always felt a great musical admiration in practically every genre and which, undoubtedly has influence my creation", explained the singer.

In his two California concerts, the winner of two Grammies in 2006, will perform together with his musical group, which has accompanied him in the last 20 years. During the first three month of 2011, is expected the continuation of the tour, with performances in 15 USA cities, among them San Francisco, New York, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Chicago.

Pablo Milanes started his professional career in the sixties, in 1963 composed his first song Tu mi desengaño and for over four decades of works as edited over 40 records.

"I have great illusion to be able to come back and share my work with the US and Latin people that is waiting for me", highlighted the musician.
