The Spanish media gushed with praise on Tuesday for tennis player Rafa (Rafael) Nadal, whose victory over Serbian Novak Djokovic at the US Open completed his collection of Grand Slam trophies.

With the headline "Nadal Hits Immortality," Europa Press said Spanish sports had broken down another barrier by winning the sole title missing from his Grand Slam dossier, consisting so far of Five Roland Garros, Two Wimbledons and an Australia Open.

Nadal, 24, has now won every major tennis championship, including an Olympic gold medal and the Davis Cup.

With headlines like "Rafa is a Legend," news reports noted that he has only been a pro for seven years, and is now competing more with history than with his contemporaries.

According to the publication Marca, Nadal is only the seventh man in the world to win the Australia Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, and the youngest to ever do so.
