The 9th edition of the Choreography and Interpretation Competition Danzandos, sponsored by the Danza Espiral Company and the Provintial Council of Stage Arts will be held from the 5 and until the 10 of October 2010, dedicated to the 90 birth date of Alicia Alonso the prima ballerina assoluta and to Isidro Rolando (2009) and Tomas Morales (2010) dance awards.

The venue of the prestigious event will be this time the Velazco Theatre, located in the centre of the city and the General del Monte Provincial Library, the Estorino Hall of the CDIAE and other locations of the city of Matanzas will also present pieces that are taking part in the competition.

The host company, leaded by the choreographer and dancer Liliam Padrón Chávez, will premiered during the event, Chopiana, a tribute to the Russian choreographer and reviver of the modern dance Mijail Fokin and to his relationship with Alicia Alonso, the prima ballerina assoluta at the Ballet Theatre of New York, specially in the pieces obras Las Sílfides and Carnaval.
