Venezuela appointed FM Nicolas Maduro governor of the Bank of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People''s of Our America (ALBA), replacing Cesa Augusto Giral, in office since July 2009.

The new president should finance those projects that promote sustainable development in the countries of latin America and motivate member countries of ALBA to prepare projects for the integral development of their peoples with efficiency and quality, states the official note.

The Bank was created at the Sixth ALBA Summit in 2008, and includes Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Cuba.

Its objective is to support sustainable social and economic development, reduce poverty and asymmetries, and promote integration and just exchanges, based on the principles of solidarity, complimentarity, cooperation and respect.
