HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 14 (acn) Former Mexican presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador thanked Fidel Castro on Friday for the comments on him that the leader of the Cuban Revolution recently wrote in articles published by Cuban newspapers.

Before the launch of his book “La mafia que se adueñó de Mexico…y el 2012” (The Mafia that Took Over Mexico…and the Year 2012) in Tabasco, his hometown, the former head of the Government of the Federal District read a communiqué on the abovementioned comments by the leader of the Cuban Revolution.

“I thank the comments and opinions of a distinguished personality like Fidel Castro,” he said. “He is undoubtedly one of the most important leaders of the world of our times,” he added as he mentioned others such as Ghandi,Charles de Gaulle, Martin Luther King, Ho Chi Minh, Salvador Allende and “our beloved Nelson Mandela.”

He noted that his book, as Fidel Castro recently wrote in one of his reflections published by Granma newspaper, “aims at letting the world know the bitter reality that characterizes Mexico today, controlled by rapacious oligarchic groups that have imposed a policy of pillage over national interests and the people’s well-being.”

In his speech, Lopez Obrador predicted that he will win the presidential elections of 2012 in Mexico. “Those who stole the election from us thought that we could not stand up again, but they were wrong,” he pointed out.
