Gabriel García Márquez (Gabo), winner of the Nobel Prize in literature, sent a message of support to Colombia's elected President Juan Manuel Santos, who replaces Álvaro Uribe on Saturday.

From Mexico City, García Márquez foretold a prosperous future for the new government and the country, according to El Tiempo online.

Gabo recalled that a few weeks ago he met with Santos and talked about Colombia's current situation. García Márquez has a
long friendship with Santos.

Santos (58) will rule until August 7, 2014 with the likelihood of being re-elected for another 4 year-term of office.

According to analysts, the main fortitude of his government lies in having a favorable Congress and in the announced unity agreement, which has the support of the majority of Colombian parties.
