Lee Lockwood, founder of the Center for Cuban Studies, former photojournalist for Life magazine and the Black Star photo agency, author of Castro's Cuba, Cuba's Fidel, died in Florida on Saturday night, following a long illness (he suffered from diabetes).

Lockwood began photographing in Cuba from the very beginning of the revolutionary period: he was in Havana on January 1, 1959. He became friends with Korda, Saul Landau and many others who were there from the outset.

The Center has an excellent traveling exhibit of Lockwood photos, "Shooting a Revolution." We will be sending more information later.
