Sometimes the contortions so-called journalists go through to make opponents of the Cuban revolution seem sympathetic border on the ridiculous.

The AP reporters claim that most of those who were released from prison (no hint that they were imprisoned after trial with abundant proof of their having worked for the US government to overthrow their own) were "journalists".

In all but a very few cases, that is a euphemism meaning they got paid to contribute to the propaganda war against Cuba, not that they were professional journalists. Only one or two of the 75 originally arrested and tried had never worked for any media in their own country.

Yet the AP turns a blind eye to this, to the extent that they don't bat an eyelash when they tell us that one of the 7 released who arrived in Spain was "a journalist and a plastic surgeon".

Now come on, how many plastic surgeons do you know who list their first occupation as "journalist"? Sadly, getting paid by the counterrevolutionary forces in Miami and Washington, DC (and some reactionary media in Madrid) pays better than being a surgeon in Cuba, where medical care is free and doctors are well-paid workers, but nothing on the level of what the capitalist countries are willing and able to pay for someone to write things against the revolution.
