"La Catedral de La Habana" and "Peace and Love" were the works chosen for the exhibition, the latter dedicated to the victims of Hiroshima and selected by various organizations to compete in other exhibitions later this year.
For both pieces, Hermina employed a technique he created in which he uses a canvas made out of interwoven cotton strings and two tone color washing painting.
In the awarding ceremony, President of Art Mirai Kiek Aruga said the event accomplished the goals of facilitating cultural exchange and expressed his satisfaction with the quality of works presented.
The two-week International Exhibition was hosted by the Tokyo Art Museum, where nearly 300 paintings and sculptures were exhibited, among them works by Cuban, Mexican and Nicaraguan artists representing Latin America.
