Genesis Educational software is a privilege, created by Rosendo Martinez from Santiago de Cuba, and won the Grand Prix event, at the 10th Computers for Youth, Infoclub 2010, held recently in Havana.

Martinez told AIN that the software product is designed for people with special educational needs and was selected from among the 77 papers presented, for the depth of knowledge it contains.

Developed by a group of specialists led by the creator of the Palma Soriano III Youth Club, the package allows you to zoom into the wide world of computing to individuals with deafness, hearing loss, low vision, autism, Down syndrome,motor deficiencies and other disabilities.

According to the jury it is the only software of its kind in Cuba and abroad, and they do not know of another that serves such a variety of disabilities and enables the teacher to work with users depending on their conditions.

"It means a new dawn for these people and the fruit of several years of research and experience working in the Youth Club", said Martinez.

It is also recognized as a hallmark of the use of screen space to convey information and be accessable for those who do not master the basic tools of computing.

He added that the product is available with its source code and a release, a document that authorizes the recipients to make any changes according to their needs, without having to consult the supplier.

The software, accessible to everyone, not just for those who have some dysfunction, is an example of how things are done in Cuba for free to provide society with the use and development of new technologies of communications, computing and electronics.
