HOLGUIN, Cuba, Pablo Picasso’s Portraits Imaginaires will be exhibited in Cuba for the first time at the Arts Center of the eastern city of Holguin during the Sixteenth Romerías de Mayo (May Festivities) scheduled for this city from May 2 to 8.

The president of the Provincial Council of Fine Arts in Holguín, Julio Mendez, told ACN that the 29 pieces of the collection were recently donated to the Havana-based National Museum of Fine Arts by US collector Gilbert Brownstone.

“As of May 2, the Cuban public will be able to see these works of the Spanish painter, one of the most important artists of the 20th century who is regarded by many as the father of modern art,” Mendez said.

Brownstone donated four lithographs by Spanish painter Antoni Tapies to Cuba in 2004 and, in January 2010, he also donated etchings and paintings by Mercel Duchamp, Andre Masson, Juan Miro, Roy Lichstein, Andy Warhol, Edouard Vuillar and Georges
Rovalt.
