Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, met on Thursday with Aleida Guevara March, daughter of Argentinian-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara, who ratified his invariable friendship with Cuba and Fidel Castro.

Guevara, member of the Center for Studies on the life of his father in Havana, talked with the Qatari head of State at the Al-Wajba Palace on a friendly atmosphere, and remembered his long friendship with the Cuban Revolution leader.

The chief of the Arab-Persian Gulf nation and Guevara talked of solidarity, and despite differences with the island's economic model, the Qatari government is really a friend of Cuba, and the Cubans know they can count with his support.

The Cuban visitor expressed gratitude to Al Thani for the social and human projects carried out in Qatar, "because it is a sign that with money, wealthy countries can do several things for the people, if there is political will."

Guevera, who traveled to Doha as a special guest to the Al-Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, concluded today, met separately with Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned, First Lady of Qatar, and other figures.
