Three out of the five finalists that it are competing for the VII Julio Alejandro Script SGAE Award, an initiative promoted by SGAE and the Instituto Buñuel that aims to incite the production of new audiovisual contents and boost the quality of film literature, come from Latin American authors.

We are talking about El acompañante, by Pável Giroud (Cuba); De humanidades y límites, by Cecilia Ruz (Chile) and Operación Baby, by José Luis Valle González (El Salvador/Mexico). For the Spanish part the candidates are Pagoda, by Berta Alonso (Madrid) and En la puta calle, by Cristina Caporicci (Barcelona).

The authors selected will take part in a public exhibition session of their projects, next April 19 in the Acts Salon of the Former Rectorate of the University of Malaga, within the Spanish Film Festival in the capital of the Costa del Sol. The decision will be made public at the end of the presentations, after the deliberations of the jury.

A total of 360scripts from Spain and Latin America have been presented to the Julio Alejandro Script Award, announced in honor of the one who was the script writer of Viridiana, the famous Luis Buñuel movie.

The reading committee that has selected the five leading finalists has been made up by script writers and film producers such as Roberto Bodegas, José Luis Borau, Ana Díez, Ricardo Fernández Blanco, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, José Nolla, Antonio Ojeda, José Antonio Quirós, Santiago San Miguel or Bernardo Sánchez Salas.
