Former International soccer referee Horacio Elizondo, the one who red carded Zinedine Zidane at the 2006 World Cup Final, is in Havana where he participates in a FIFA project.

Elizondo, the only man to referee the first and last game at a Soccer World Cup, was interviewed this Tuesday by the Cuban Television on Futuro III, a part of the FIFA Referees' Development Training Programme, attended by referees from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean nations.

FUTURO III focuses on the education of instructors in the areas of coaching, refereeing, administration and management and sports medicine.

The Argentinean referee opposed good training and better positioning in the field by the officials to the use of video to make calls in soccer games.

“Having sixteen cameras shooting at the same time against just 4 referees leaves the last ones in a clear disadvantage, but still I don’t like the use of the video to make or go back on calls”

Elizondo spoke of Zidane as well, whom he dubbed one of the greatest players ever, as of the Germany’s final’s situation.
