The 7th Congress of Endocrinology and the 3rd Congress of Pediatric Endocrinology were inaugurated on Wednesday morning, and will run until Friday at Havana’s Convention Center.

Doctor Berta Carrasco, from the scientific commission of these congresses, told ACN that, for the first time, meetings related to children and adults will be held at the same time, with the purpose of updating professionals and promoting debates, since delegates from all Cuban provinces and specialists from several nations will be represented.

Among the latter she cited professors from Mexico, Argentina, Spain, North America and Australia, among other countries, in addition to Cubans, the presentations of which, in symposia, round tables and plenary meetings will take place with the slogan For Excellence in Endocrinology Practice in mind Over 200 papers will be analyzed, dealing with topics from the speciality linked to other  scientific disciplines and ailments, like diabetes, thyroids and obesity.

 Endocrinology and AIDS, among other aspects, will be tackled for the first time.

Also presented will be the consensus of the Cuban Public Health Ministry with respect to several diseases, among them lipid disorders, pre-diabetes and osteoporosis, and there will be symposia on national programs for diabetes, diabetes and pregnancy, and early detection of congenital hyperthyroidism.
