Russians Evgeny Alekseev and Ian Nepomniatchi were announced today to join the elite group in the upcoming Capablanca Chess Memorial, which will have six contestants and will reach the Category XVIII.

The tournament fair will be held in Havana from June 9 through the 22.

Osvaldo Diaz, national commissioner, confirmed the news of this addition, making the roster one of the strongest in the history of these events, because they had registered before Ukrainian Vassily Ivanchuk and English Nigel Short.

The two best host players Leinier Dominguez and Lazaro Bruzon complete a luxury sextet that will face the double round robin system and averaging 2 690 ELO points, valid for the category XVIII.

Ivanchuk (2 748), Leinier (2 713) and Alekseev (2 700) are the trio of higher level, followed by Short (2 686), Nepomniatchi (2 656) and Bruzón (2 641), although some figures should change, in the next ranking update on May 1st.

The tournament fair will be held in Havana from June 9 through the 22, and it is already attracting the attention of those who want to enjoy the chess skills of three-time Capablanca winner Ivanchuk (2005, 2006 and 2007).

As for the Premier Group, the second force, the Russian Vladimir Potkin (2 606) will be one of the four visitors, with six domestic players to complete the 10-man figure.
