Behind scenes, a group of girls got ready to fraternally compete in the contest “Amorosa Guajira”, a social gathering in the countryside that the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) announces every year.

In the municipality of Vertientes, the party was held at “Manuel Ascunce Domenech“ Cooperative Farm, the stage where several contesters competed in diverse categories such as improvisational singing of décima verses, literature and culinary art, although the selection of La Flor de Birama (Birama flower) captured the attention of those present.

Yusnavis García Peña, was chosen to represent the territory, after succeding in a contest in which several girls of the territory participated.

The young student, who studies accountancy in “Cruce de la Trocha” Polytechnic School said to be “very pleased”, since it is the first time that she participates in this kind of party: "My cooperative farm will be represented in the provincial contest. For me it is a reason of pride, joy and pleasure” told Yusnavis.

The recent edition of the Amorosa Guajira Contest in the municipality of Camaguey, takes place prior the Cucalambeana celebration in the province, which is a turning point in the hard work of the agriculture sector, which is responsible to increase the food productions for the people.

Amorosa Guajira is the title of a song written by Camagueyan Jorge González Allué, pianist, composer and conductor, who was born on February 11, 1910 in this town.
