industriales triunfo

Shored up by an unrelenting offensive of 20 hits, Industriales knocked out Villa Clara 11-1 on Saturday in the fourth game of the final, corresponding to the 49th Cuban Baseball Series, and now the two teams are tied 2-2.

So, Industriales -which represents the capital of the island nation and is champion of the Western zone- wins its second game in a row in Havana's Latinoamericano stadium, hurting its adversaries Villa Clara -champion of the Eastern zone-, that saw how its lead of two victories vanished within a few hours.

Today, the Lions of the capital got into the grass of the ballpark in El Cerro neighborhood completely focused on the victory, and found a rookie left-handed, Yasmany Hernández, as their main obstacle for the win.

Hernández, which had foretold a complete sweep of Villa Clara some days ago, suffered an euphoric offensive by the host team and went to the showers after having allowed four runs, with no outs.

In the same inning, Industriales scored four runs before the first out, which appeared after a two base blast by Stayler Hernández, with the bases loaded, but a failed play by runner Serguei Pérez.

Finally, Industriales scored five runs in the first frame, the last one batted in by catcher Frank Camilo Morejón, putting a lot of stress on Villa Clara players and allowing their starting pitcher Arleys Sánchez to work calmly.

Sánchez made a great presentation, pitching for as long as six innings, backed up by the offensive of his teammates who, frame after frame, scored runs (one in the second inning, two in the third one, a pair of them in the fourth and the decisive one in the seventh inning).

Sánchez did not permit a single run and allowed only four hits (all of them singles), stroke out two batters and drew no bases on balls. With this one -his first win in postseason games- Arleys has nine wins in this Series.

The MVP of this game was the designated hitter Yohandri Urgellés, who batted three singles and three RBI´s.

Industriales' third baseman Leugim Barroso also had a perfect afternoon at bat, batting 4 for 4, and reaching the plate in three occasions.

Villa Clara scored its sole run in the seventh frame.

With this knock out, now Industriales and Villa Clara are tied 2-2 in the sensational final of the Cuban baseball series.

Industriales and Villa Clara will play again tomorrow, their main pitchers, right-handers Odrisamer Despaigne and Freddy Asiel Álvarez will defend the colors blue and orange, respectively, in the Latinoamericano stadium.
