The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX) reported this Thursday that next April it will reward the best goods export companies from the country in 2009.

The 12 National Award for Exporters was held on March 8 to recognize the efforts, creativity, perseverance, and the contribution of these companies to develop the economy of the Caribbean nation, reported Prensa Latina news agency.

According to a Center for Promotion of Foreign Trade and Investment in Cuba (CEPEC), the companies will be awarded in six categories.

Among them there are the companies that have plans to have sales of up to two million dollars a year.

Also listed are those whose target ranges from two to 15 million dollars, from 15 to50 million and those companies that engage in transactions with a value exceeding the latter figure.

The categories include as well those exporting companies commissioned by the State as well as the entities which sell non-traditional products.

According to CEPEC, for service entities there will be only one prize, whether professional, technological, research, educational, medical or production support.

In the previous edition, after congratulating the winning companies, MINCEX minister, Rodrigo Malmierca urged them to increase exports, since most of Cuba's foreign trade is for imports.
