The production of electronic means of measurement and control, known as thermocouples, is among the developments in import substitution and science and technology achieved in the town of Moa, in Holguín.

These instruments essentially thermocouples and thermo-resistance of various types are manufactured in a specialized workshop of the company's Technical Computer, Communications and Electronics Services.

Belkis Garcia, senior specialist of production of that business entity pertaining to the Cubaníquel group, explained that for such efforts only four employees are devoted, and they achieve high levels of productivity per day.

Among the main customers of these means, as well as industries and Nicaro Moa Nickel, are in the Electrical Union, aluminum cans, the salt, Stainless Steel Company of Las Tunas, and Biotechnology.

The thermocouples are produced through a cooperative program between the establishment of Moa and Thermibel entity, from the Netherlands, which helps reduce the cost for Cuba in the acquisition of the means in the foreign market.

Maria Torres, a specialist in management and innovation in the provincial branch of Science, Technology and Environment, noted that these instruments are among the 268 products listed in the recent Scientific Fair Expo-Holguin 2010.
