Havana Will Host Int’l Festival of Electroacoustic Music

The announcement was made by Enmanuel Blanco, president of the event,who said that it will be dedicated to Juan Blanco, a pioneer of this music genre in the island, and to the 30th anniversary of the National Laboratory of Electroacoustic Music.
Blanco added that, for the first time, a Third World country will be the venue of the general meeting of the International Federation of Electroacoustic Music on March 20-21 at the Ambos Mundos hotel in Havana.
He added that Cuban and foreign renowned specialists will give lectures at the Ruben Martinez Villena library also in this city.
The National Museum of Fine Arts and the Minor Basilica of the St.Francis of Asis Convent, both in Old Havana, as well as the Jardines de la Tropical recreational center, in Playa municipality, will be the official venues of the festival.
A total of 126 works from 25 countries will compete in the event that will be attended by composers and instrumentalists from 17 nations.
Renowned international figures such as Mexican Manuel Rocha Iturbide,Polish Anna Zielinska, Belgian Annette Vande Gorne, French Francoise Barriere and Daniel Kientzy, Spanish Jose Manuel Berenguer and Chinese Zhang Xoifu, will participate in the festival.
The opening concert will include pieces dedicated to Juan Blanco by American composer Vivian Adelberg Rudow and Spanish Pedro Guajardo, Andres Lewin-Richter and Gregorio Jimenez.
