Residents in this eastern Cuban city and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Russian architecture during the photographic exhibition “El norte ruso” (The Northern Part of Russia) from February 20 through March 2.

Some 50 images captured by the lens of artist Guennadiy Smirnov show constructions in old cities like Vologda, Dmitrov and Kirilov, among others.
  
Irina Samsonova, coordinator of the Russian community in Holguin, said that the exhibition represents a cultural bridge between the two nations and an opportunity for Cubans to appreciate, from art, the history and geography of the most extensive territory in the world.

The exhibition will be at the disposal of art lovers at the Art Center´s Electa Arenal Hall, as part of a tour of several of the island´s provinces.

Before Cuba, it toured galleries of the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy and Panama.

It´s an excellent gift for Holguin residents prior to the arrival to this city of the Cuba 2010 International Book Fair, scheduled for March 3-7 in the eastern region.

  The book fiesta, dedicated to authors Reynaldo Gonzalez and Maria del Carmen Barcia, and to Russia as Guest of Honor country will have over 600 titles distributed in some 300,000 copies, according to information provided provincial culture director
Alexis Triana.
