Spanish writer Juan Madrid, one of the exponents of black novel in his country, defined himself here as a policeman, a guardian who watches all what is moving around him.

He came to the International Cuba 2010 Book Fair to present the Cuban edition of his novel "A Bird in Hand," by Arte y Literatura publishing house, in which he tries to tell what is untold.

It took him two years to write this work, which is "a denunciation of the corruption, social violence and dirty aspects of certain policies under CIA protection."

In a dialogue with readers, Madrid called himself "a professional lazybones, an obsessive writer."

With fifty years of experience and an extensively accumulated work, also as a scriptwriter and filmmaker, he said literature has allowed him living on his work. With it, I have this small power to do what I like.
