Cuban GM Leinier Domínguez will be one of the 4 participants in the Magistral de Leon chess tournament in Spain, along Armenian Levon Aronian, Israeli Boris Gelfand and host Francisco Vallejo.

According to the event´s website, the 23rd edition kill keep the usual format of two semifinal matches and one at the end, with 20-minute games and tie-off in five in case the players have the same amount of points.
 
On the first match, Leinier, with a 2.712 ELO and currently 25th in the world will face on
June 3, will make his debut in this kind of tournament, new as well for Aronian (2.781) and Gelfand (2.761), fifth and sixth in that order.

The Cuban player, 2008 blitz world champion, will also participate in March at the French Melody Amber, and has attended some of the Grand Slams in the last two years, with good performances in every event.

Meanwhile, Aronian shows the best results recently, which includes the top position at the 2005 World Cup and the 2006 Linares; Gelfand won the 2009 world cup and it will be another tough opponent for the Caribbean player.

In 2006, another Cuban player, Lazaro Bruzon, left a great impression after losing, but in 8 games to world champion Indian  Viswanathan Anand, who has won 7 Magistral editions.
