Latin Grammy winner, Cuban singer Omara Portuondo starts the year by the hand of Disney in the Spanish version of one of the most recent box office hits, “The Princess and the frog” (Tiana y el sapo).

Omara will play Mama Odie, a good blind witch who lives in the Louisiana swamps.

Disney's Number 49 film directed by John Musker and Ron Clements takes place in New Orleans, black music epicenter in the Unites States.

Therefore the film soundtrack is an exquisite summary including jazz, gospel, blues and zydeco.

The "feeling bride" performs the song "Dig a Little Deeper” together with her fellow citizen, young singer Chila Lynn, who gives her voice to Tiana.

The cast also includes Spanish Alex Ubago, Macaco, Javier Gurruchaga, José María Guzmán and King África.

The Buena Vista Social Club singer is living one of the most fruitful periods in her artistic career; very soon she will start a tour through the United States after 6 years of absence. The tour will include Washington, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami.

She will be accompanied by the successful Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca who will perform hits of his praised album Akokan.

At the end of 2009 Portuondo received the Latin Grammy award for her record “Gracias” (World Village / Montuno), which includes traditional tunes, boleros and jazz which have been key pieces during her 60 years career.
