OCLAE’s President Yordanys Charchaval told ACN that the executive board was summoned to define the venue and date of the Congress and other basic aspects needed to start with the organization of the event.
Once the Congress is officially announced, the next step will be to create national organizing committees, said Charchaval, who is member of the Cuban University Students Federation.
The meeting is underway in the Altahabana hotel with the participation of delegates from OCLAE’s 17 federations making up the organization’s leadership, including those represented in the Executive Board which has permanent headquarters in Havana since the very moment the organization emerged in August 11, 1996.
Another topic included in the Havana meeting’s agenda is the participation of the regional entity in forums and other international scenarios and the organization’s support of social movements.
OCLAE comprises 36 member federations from 23 countries and represents more than 110 million students from middle schools and higher education institutions.
