The work will be exhibited temporarily at the Plaza de los Trabajadores (Worker’s Square) supported by a crane, during the Week of Culture which will be devoted this time to the city’s 496 anniversary.
Carmen Soto, who heads the team of creators, told ACN news agency that they will try to take the Guinness record from the 13-meter tall Argentinean “Pepona” to their "Leonor”.
The piece that is currently in the final stages of preparation consists of several sections, which also will be assembled in that square located in the area declared World Heritage.
The rag doll's guts is made of 90 per cent of debris of various kinds, and the rest by a metal structure, said the Soto.
The name Eleanor is to evoke the name of the doll in the story The black doll, written by José Martí.
In its making, which begun in April 2009, 12 girls, young and old participated and it is one of the efforts of socio-cultural CARSUEÑO project, led by Carmen Soto.
The work will be part of the museum collection that entity, a promoter of doll making in this central province.
