Elpidio Valdés and Los Van Van, is the new show being prepared by the Children´s Company La Colmenita, and it will be a tribute to being Cuban, said in this city Carlos Alberto Cremata, director of the group.

The animated short movies by Juan Padrón and the orchestra Los Van Van, directed by Juan Formell, constitute symbols of the Caribbean roots, declared Cremata, after receiving last Wednesday the Villanueva Award for the play Y sin embargo se mueve,
premiered by La Colmenita in the year 2009.

Tha famous group made up by children will celebrate this year 2010 its 20th Anniversary and it will begin the festivities soon with the new staging in the Karl Marx Theater, from the Cuban capital, and it will then go on to go on tour through the
whole country, announced the theatre director.

The musical group La Colmenita, ended its show of the handing of the Villanueva Awards, which took place in the Papalote room, from the city of the rivers and bridges, precisely with a potpourri from Los Van Van, which made a numerous auditorium dance.

The awarding gala, directed by Rubén Darío Salazar, included the performances of the soprano Bárbara Llanes, accompanied by Felipa Moncada, interpreting one of the themes from the play Federico de Noche, from Las Estaciones, which was also awarded.

National and foreign groups who offered important staging during the last year, received the much deseired award, given by the Critic Section from the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (Cuban Union of Writers and Artists) (UNEAC in Spanish).

Among the best known from Cuba there were also the Mejunje group, from Villa Clara, Danza Abierta, Buendía theatre, while the British Royal Ballet and also Teatro en el Blanco, from Chile, among others, won the foreign awards.

The Villanueva awards are given to remember the events that took place in January 22, 1869 in the Havana theatre of the same name, when after sympathetic manifestations for the Cubans who were fighting in the plains, the Spanish caused a massacre.
