In the absence of support to the imposed document in the failed summit in Copenhagen on climate change, United Nations decided to remove the deadline set to become a member of this text, it was stated on Thursday.

The announcement was made in Germany by the executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention for that matter Yvo de Boer, who cancelled the December 31 deadline set in the Danish capital.

Until then, the States members should submit their goals for reducing emissions of polluting gases into the atmosphere and other actions relating to fighting climate change.

However, during the month since the conference, only 20 of the 192 UN member states responded to the document, whose preparation was made by a small group of countries led by the United States.

The cancellation of the initial term was justified by De Boer arguing the deadline is "a flexible limit" and the states are not obliged to consent, but to indicate whether they want to get associated to text.

The decision was announced after harsh criticism by several countries, including Bolivia and Cuba, against on the UN in favour of the so-called Copenhagen Declaration, strongly rejected in the December summit.

On Tuesday, the Bolivian ambassador Paul Solon, condemned UN officials encourage a text that is not official or legally approved by most delegations at the summit.

Likewise, Cuba rejected a Danish government letter distributed at the UN to seek support in the text and considered the manoeuvres are trying to legitimize by undirected ways a spurious document.

For his part, De Boer said in Germany "Now we are in a period of reflection, which will serve to discuss". He also announced in February he will travel to Mexico, home to a new climate change summit.

However, he felt  this conclave, scheduled for December must adopt conclusions for further legal package, a formulation that further away the legally binding agreement that could not be reached in Copenhagen.
