Captivated by the excellences of immaculate tones and masterful execution, the French audience of Enghien-les-Bains applauded the concert of traditional Cuban music by Professor Alicia Perea.

As a prelude to a recital in the Arts Center of Enghien-les-Bains, in the outskirts of Paris, its director Dominique Roland left the scene ready to face the expectations, after his introduction to a little-known repertoire.

He referred to the remarkable popularity of rhythms with roots in Cuban son and other Latin American styles, which overshadow the brilliance of important compositions by musicians as Ignacio Cervantes, Ernesto Lecuona, Laureano Fuentes and Jose Maria Vitier.

Renowned concert pianist Perea, accompanied by Cuban percussionist Joel Hierrezuelo, who lives in Paris, made her first bets with a coffer already acknowledged, her album "Danzas, Contradanzas, Habaneras and Danzones."

She also delighted the audience with Zapateo Cubano, by Gisela Hernandez, Six Sones and Alta Gracia, by Carlos Farinas, to honor Che Guevara.

Although she took more than expected, due to the audience insistence, she recreated songs by Jose Maria Vitier, as "Prelude to Sofia," "Habanera del Angel," "Danzon for Sunday" and others.

Cuban Ambassador in France Orlando Requeijo and authorities of Enghain-les-Bains attended the concert.
