Benefits reading brings to children with behaviour and affection issues are a fact in libraries of the province of Pinar del Rio, after the experience of Ramon Gonzalez Coro provincial library.

Through a reading-therapy methodology created by specialists of the cultural institution of the city; employees, parents, teachers and fifth grade students from Hermanos Saíz special school have approached to the work of prestigious writers of the
territory.

This practice, authors explained, widened today to several municipalities, is a very useful variant to librarians and teachers committed to raise the efficiency of the teaching process and the quality of minors´ psychological attention.

In regard to that work, Dr. Maribel Arrebato considers that as Martí would say "books heal wounds..." since reading as a reflective and emotional act favours communication and human relationships.

To read is important for intellectual development since it improves the spelling, grammar, allows a better use of language, writing, and rises the attention of the little ones.

The reading-therapy -states Clara Mendez, mother of one of the benefited pupils-, develops imagination and creativity, besides it is an incomparable source of culture that increases memory and concentration capacity.

Cuba has a wide library network in teaching centres and other entities like bookstores, while the country promotes International Book Fairs.
