I first heard of Jacqueline Vell because of the song “Se me olvida”. The Holguin native singer boasts her vocal projection and gives us back the song composed by Jesse Suárez, with her unique way of performing.

Jacqueline now puts Se me olvida together with nine other singles in her first album, Mirame (Bis Music 2009). There you can find Vell’s origin, lyric singer, subject she studied in Holguin. The young artist shows everything she has learnt all these
years.

"I liked working with team of debutants", says Vell, so she explains her debut work.In the composition order, songs composed by Osmani Espinosa, Jesse Suarez and Antonio Alonso Brito, among others, appear in Mírame.

The reason why there are no songs composed by Jacqueline is simple: "I have an arsenal of my own compositions, but I searched for those songs expressing what I wanted."

Thus, songs like 100 % Latinoamericana (Ernesto Yoel Espinosa) shows up. The artist expresses the desire to belong to a region rich in genuine culture emerges. There are other songs where Vell urges women to have their place in society, and there are romantic titles.

Quédate con él, Quién dice que no, Animales, Nada—its video clip won four Lucas Awards nominations—and Gente auténtica are signs of her desire to tell.

It is, as she said, about speaking through music of serious issues that concern you. That's why critic Oni Acosta Llerena labelled the album as “bold” and it succeeds in meeting public’s expectations.

Vell’s album moves between the lines of pop rock. Melody flows through the band accompanying her, consisting of drums, guitars, keyboards and bass.
