The use of an international fibber optic will boost Cuba´s communication capacity, said Alberto Rodriguez, Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communication.
 
This project will also allow improve the security and quality of voice and data transmission, Rodriguez said at the 8th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) in session in this capital.

Rodriguez confirmed the commencement of the execution phase of this project for early next year, by the French-Chinese joint venture Alcatel-Shanghai Bell.
 
The underwater 969-mile fibber optic cable will link Cuba and Venezuela, thus multiplying Cuba´s connection capacity with the rest of the world by 3.000.

Representatives of the nine ALBA member countries concluded on Saturday at the International Convention Centre the session on mechanisms for regional integration, which was the prelude to the summit meeting Sunday and Monday of Heads of State.
