The OpenCuba.org campaign started by Orbitz announced today that it had received 100,000 signatures from people calling on the U.S. government to allow Americans to travel to the island.

Some Southwest Florida residents are already considering potential business opportunities there.

Today Cuba is the only country in the world to which Americans are banned from traveling, according to a news release issued by Orbitz.

“Never before in the history of the U.S. ban on travel to Cuba has there been such an upwelling of popular support for change,” said Barney Harford, president and CEO of Orbitz Worldwide.

Harford said a Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act being considered by the House and Senate this session has 180 congressional and 32 senatorial co-sponsors.
