Medical student Bernan Zelaya Reyes told the press that this is the ideal way for the Hondurans to have speedy access to accurate information.

The objective of the initiative is to put an end to the silence imposed on leftist media in the Central American nation, whose reporters have been beaten and barred for spreading the true situation in that country.

The students are looking to counteract the silence adopted by “the other press” made up by radio, television and journalists supporting the groups that have usurped power, which are broadcasting programs that are very far from the present reality in Honduras.

Bernan Zelaya Reyes explained that he used to be a cameraman and so he is very familiar with the anti-social interests of the mercantilist TV networks.

The student, from El Progreso, in the northern region of Honduras, said he decided to become a doctor after he met Cuban physicians in his hometown and he learned that he had the opportunity to help his fellow countrymen by studying medicine in Cuba.

Bernan Zelaya is one of 430 young Hondurans who are studying in Cienfuegos and who support the reinstatement of the constitutional president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya.
