Planting over 560,000 royal palms in Guantanamo, Cuba

Cuban authorities and forest workers currently analyze details to speed up the planting of about 560,000 royal palms in the rainy season.

National Reforestation Commission secretary Elias Linares exhorted in Guantanamo to strengthen labors.

The aim is to restore damages to the plant, occurred by the path of three hurricanes in 2008.

The project includes fostering species in nursery, and later sowing at least two per each of 280,000 that weather phenomena have demolished.

Royal palms from western Pinar del Rio and eastern Holguin, Las Tunas and Camaguey provinces have been seriously affected by those meteorological events, official figures reported.
