During the opening day of the meeting on Monday, the Algerian Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Saïd Barkat, said that cooperation between Cuba and Algeria, which currently develops mainly in the health sector, should spread to other areas.

He added that this session of the joint commission will help the Cuba- Algeria bilateral relation enter a new stage of higher quality as new sectors such as trade, industries, energy, finances, transportation, fishing, technical cooperation and the transference of technology, have been included in the agenda.

For his part, Malmierca recalled the signing of agreements regarding the management and operation of hospitals, particularly the ophthalmological center of Djelfa, which has treated more than 60,000 patients, including nearly 4,000 surgeries.

He added that new possibilities of cooperation are in the horizon in the fields of biological products, communication, fishing and fishing resources.
