Therefore the Cuban Health System is promoting a project to prevent the spreading of the virus and other sexual transmission diseases.

That is the reason why in Ciego de Ávila, the central Cuban province, a set of actions is carried out in coordination with different institutions and mass organizations. Among those actions, mention should be made of the popularization of preventive measures, educational talks and epidemic observation.   

The Provincial Center for Prevention and Health Education is also contributing to that aim by means of a counselling service and the discussion of educational video showing the testimony of people suffering from the disease.

Vulnerable groups are paid special attention, especially in the municipalities of higher incidence such as Ciego de Ávila and Moron, which at the same time are the most populated.   

The projects executed all over the country are intended to reduce the number of cases, strengthen the national diagnosis network and grant access to anti-retroviral treatments.
