The Complete Literary Works of the poet, essayist and storyteller Jose Lezama Lima (1910-1976), will be published in the Island in his Centenarian birthday, which will be celebrated on December 2010.

Letras Cubanas, an editorial of the Cuban Book Institute, will be in charge to materialize such event, with delivers that will appear all along a period of celebrations, from the moment of the saint’s day until the International Book Fair of Havana in 2011.

Several activities will be organized in different branches of culture by the National Commission whose Honour President is Cintio Vitier and Fina Garcia Marruz, together with other culture intellectuals of the entire Island.

There will be held an International Congress about Jose Lezama Lima’s work on December 2010, organized by the House of the Americas and the Literature and Linguistics Institute, as part of the celebrations.

Lezama Lima has been recognized by writers and critics as one of the most influential authors in Spanish language of the second half of the XX century and he has among his merits to be the founder of Origenes magazine and the literary group of the same name, besides of being the author of several books of poems and his most outstanding work, the novel Paradiso.
