Obama President of US
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said when speaking on his Sunday radio program “Breakfast with the President” that he believes his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama will understand that “there is no longer the need for that embargo against Cuba.”

Lula has lobbied heavily with Obama to break with the past and forge a more constructive relationship with Latin America. Mending the fences with Cuba is a must for that to take place, Lula and other leaders from the region maintained before and during the recent Americas Summit.

Cuban President Raul Castro reaffirmed his offer last week to Obama to discuss any and all matters.

While praising the good will from Cuba, Obama continues to place pre-conditions on talks which have always been unacceptable to the Caribbean island nation of 11.2 million people.
