In Cuban Baseball Championship: Ciego de Ávila Consolidates Leadership in Eastern Zone

Ciego is demonstrating that has strong aspirations to finish as champion in this zone with balance of 46 victories, three more than Villa Clara, the nearest rival.
The new leader has won 18 games in the last 21 appearances, what shows solidity of work, while Villa Clara is in the worst moment and has lost seven times in the last 12 games.
The defending champion, Santiago de Cuba, went away to six games of Ciego de Avila, when losing two games in front of Las Habana that maintains the leader position on the western zone with balance of 43 victories and 23 defeats, to seven games of Pinar del Río, its nearest rival.
On the other hand, Sancti Spiritus, maintained its victorious rhythm and arrived at nine victories in a consecutive way, when defeating yesterday Granma 16 runs to four, and although this troop stays to 13 games of La Habana, continues in the third position of the western zone.
In other results on Sunday Pinar del Rio defeated Camaguey 9 to 7, Isla de la Juventud played better than Las Tunas 11 to 7, Cienfuegos fell in front of Holguin 7 to 4, and Industriales battered Guantanamo 2 to 1.
Today all the teams will have a rest and tomorrow there will be new matches: Pinar del Rio-Holguin; Isla de la Juventud-Granma; Metropolitanos-Santiago de Cuba; Matanzas-Guantanamo; Cienfuegos-Camaguey; Sancti Spiritus-Las Tunas; Villa Clara-La Habana and Ciego de Avila-Industriales.
