Raúl Arce, Cuban sport journalist defects to US after baseball tournament
Raul Arce, prominent Cuban sports journalist, who was covering the international baseball tournament in San Diego, California, has defected to the United States.
The newspaper Herald said that Raul Arce, the sports editor of Juventud Rebelde, was not on the plane that on Thursday brought the Cuban delegation back from San Diego to Havana.
The Herald said Arce's defection was confirmed by a source in Cuba's National Institute of Sports and in a Fidel Castro's reflection.
Arce's current whereabouts could not be confirmed, according to the report. But he is believed to be on the way to Miami to meet relatives living there.
