Street Theater in Matanzas Cuba
The 5th National Street Theater Festival will include the premiere of La Pamplinera, by the group Miron Cubano, from Matanzas, under the direction of Francisco Pancho Rodriguez, music by Tony Ávila and Raul Valdes, and playwriting by young creator Rogelio Orizondo.

Rodriguez, who is also the main organizer of the Festival and a big advocate of street theater, told ACN that the artists will perform both in the city center and outlying communities.

Grups like Andariega and Adarga Teatro, from Camagüey, A dos manos, from Santiago de Cuba, Gigantería, from Havana, Los hermanos infoncundibles, from Spain and Teatro Caspulesco, from Chile, will be among the many groups that will take the city by storm —a storm of art and music.

Tributes to renowned figures of street theater, photographic exhibitions from previous events from artists like Ramon Pacheco and a plastic arts contest for children, make up the comprehensive program of this Festival, which also intends to revive popular characters.

Present in these performances in Matanzas will be the figure of late playwright and theater director Albio Paz, who left his artistic imprint on its streets and stages, remembered for being the forerunner of street theater on the archipelago.
