According to Dr. Pablo González Pentón, head of this health institution’s angiology department, the treatment has proved to be effective in 87 per cent of the cases.

Heberprot-P, created both by Havana’s Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the Cuban Institute of Angiology and Vascular Surgery, allows the healing of serious ulcers while reducing the amputation risks.

 After a three-week Heberprot-P injection treatment, granulation has been reported in more than 80 per cent of the patients between one and 80 square centimeters.

This therapeutic procedure also reduces the risk of gangrene and infections.
