Awarded 495 Anniversary Distinction in Camaguey
The Municipal Assembly of Camagüey (Mayor’s office) has just awarded the 495 Anniversary Distinction to remember and honor those people and institutions whose performance have signified an outstanding role in the effort to achieve an integral development of the city; the ceremony took place as part of the celebrations for the city’s anniversary and the proclamation of part of the historical center as World Heritage Site.

Salvador Valdés Mesa, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, was awarded with the Coat of Arms of the city; the rest of the personalities: Flora Fong, Miguel Angel Masjuán, Eduardo Rosillo, René Gómez Areces, Oneida Bencomo and Susana Lee received the above mentioned Distinction as well as the City Historian Office and Community Service Department.

 The ceremony was leaded by Julio César García, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Jesús García Collazo, the Governor of Camagüey.
